Tube. [Cat. 2017] 97-0499 eo. – I fell in love with the PHY Perfectionist when I cast my first one while working as a biologist in Yellowstone National Park in 1952. It had a Hedge 7-Taper Size 12 silk line on a 2 9/16” Hardy Baby St. George. I did a few false casts, made a small double haul, and sent it farther that the owner had ever seen it cast. It was a fishing machine. The 20 inch cutthroats were thick in the Southeast arm of Yellowstone Lake, and I couldn’t keep them off. Later, I found a Customer who had purchased a PH Young Perfectionist Kit Rod [butt & 2 tips] from Young in 1951. Rod was made into an amateur Kit rod. I acquired it in 1997. I had Mario Wojnicki restore the rod with new grip, reel seat, wraps & guides. It has been unfished since. I cast it with a DT4 line-it loads nicely at near distances, but it can reach out to extreme distance when required. An unusual kit rod purchased from Paul Young himself in 1951. Rod Very Fine Restored. $2700.
