Tube. [Cat. 2018] FF 180312 con-sk.-Jon L. Tarantino of San Francisco [“JET”] met Jim Hardy in 1957. Jon was the All-Around Casting Champion of the world from 1957 through 1964. Jon persuaded Jim Hardy to introduce a series of Tarantino-designed American glass blanks [JET] in 1966. In 1969, Jon Tarantino and J. Kennedy Fisher set up a glass rod manufacturing plant at Hardy’s Alnwick premises. Jon had patented the Spigot Ferrule which was used on all JET rods. The Tarantino-Fisher blanks used a phenolic resin system that was vastly superior to the epoxy or polyester resin used by others. I knew Jon from his early teen years at the GGACC in San Francisco, and met Jim Hardy in 1961 when I watched the British Team casting in preparation for the World Championships in Oslo Norway that year. I late watched Jon walk off with his All-Around Casting Champion Award at Oslo. At the end of the 12 events, it took 3 people to carry off all of Jon Tarantino’s trophies. This rod is a 1966 era blank made in USA. Cork grip moderately soiled; Hardy Specification Decal on butt mostly missing. Hardy listed this rod for a #7 line, but it cast much better with a #8 or 9 line, or even a ST-10 Shooting Head. Hook keeper missing on butt. Very Good. $ 210
